The Renewable Heat Incentive – RHI
(CPD seminar – 4 hours)
Spend the morning in our Training Centre learning the latest information on the world’s first long-term financial support programme for renewable heat. The Non-Domestic RHI was launched in 2011 and many organisations and businesses are already taking advantage of the generous tariff’s on offer – learn how you can too. The Domestic RHI will launch next summer – find out how it will work and how you can help the UK meet it’s challenging 2020 CO2targets.
Biomass Awareness
(CPD training course – 1 day)
The course offers a valuable insight in biomass installation issues, and will be of interest to conventional heating installers, housing providers and energy professionals. It provides an introduction to Biomass Boiler installation in line with the underpinning knowledge requirements of the MCS scheme. Elements include operating principles of wood pellet and wood chip boilers, fuel storage, flues and the requirements of building regulations Part J, connection to existing wet heating systems, biomass resource availability and carbon savings.
Heat Loss calculations
(CPD training course – 1 day)
This course is designed to explain the background principles of building heat loss, including U values and ventilation, and to develop these skills with case study worked examples into heat loss calculations designed to meet MCS and building regulations requirements. The course is aimed at heating engineers, sales support staff, housing and energy professionals looking to specify heat sources e.g. heat pumps, biomass or fossil fuel boilers for domestic applications. NB. for anyone with previous experience, refresher sessions on heat loss calculations are available as an evening class.
Renewable Energy on the UK Power Grid
(CPD training course – 1 day)
This course provides an introduction in the technology of all the renewable and low carbon electrical generation equipment used on the UK Power Grid. With reviews of PV, Wind, Hydro and CHP the major technologies are discussed with details on their operation, installation and connection requirements along with the impact these technologies have on the UK Power network – good and bad.
Connecting a G59 system
(CPD training course – 1 day)
This course is aimed at renewable installers, to give them an understanding of the requirements for connecting large scale renewable generators such as PV and Wind > 16A to the UK grid. A full review of the application process is given with case study examples from throughout the North East region. Course is supported by the local District Network Operator (DNO) to answer questions on the day.
